The Mets finished out their opening home stand with a 5-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.
Pitching
Noah Syndergaard threw 109 pitches over seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out nine. He becomes the first starting pitcher in Mets history to combine for 15+ strikeouts and zero walks in back-to-back starts to begin the season.
Fernando Salas made another appearance, his fifth on the season. He retired the side 1-2-3 in the eighth. Salas has appeared in 5 of the Mets’ first 6 games and hasn’t allowed a run.
Addison Reed appeared in his first save opportunity of the season, and retired the side 1-2-3, and struck out two.
Hitting
The Mets brought their bats out to play tonight as they scored five runs on seven hits.
Neil Walker drove in his first run of the season with an RBI single in the first.
Jay Bruce stayed hot smacking his second home run of the season. He also reached on an error and scored a run.
Michael Conforto got his first start of the season. He made his presence felt with a monstrous home run all the way to the Shea Bridge.
Lucas Duda showed some positive things at the plate as he picked up two hits.
Asdrubal Cabrera and Yoenis Cespedes both picked up base hits and scored a run.
Jose Reyes continued to struggle, going 0-for-4, he is now 1-for-23 on the season.
Rene Rivera made two beautiful throws from behind the plate, gunning down two potential base stealers, including Dee Gordon.

The Mets travel to Philadelphia for their first road series of the season. Jacob deGrom will be on the mound for the Mets, and he will be opposed by Jerad Eickhoff.
