The bats came alive as the New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 11-4 on Monday to take the first game of this four-game weekday series. On Tuesday, the Mets will be facing off against the Marlins once again at Marlins Park as David Peterson (3-1, 2.91 ERA) will take the mound against a starter for Miami that has yet to be announced. The game is set to begin at 7:10 PM EST, will be televised on SNY and can be heard on WCBS 880 AM. Let’s go Mets!

Mets skipper Luis Rojas announced that ace Jacob deGrom threw a successful side session on Monday in Miami and is set to make his next start on Wednesday.

According to Metsmerized‘s own Jacob Resnick, the Mets have added top prospect Ronny Mauricio to their 60-player pool.

Resnick of Metsmerized also reported that catcher Rene Rivera will have surgery on Wednesday to remove a bone spur from his left elbow.

Scott Soshnick of Sportico made an appearance on WFAN’s mid-day show today and a rundown of the interview, provided by SNY suggested that the ownership bid is Steve Cohen’s to lose.

Joe Pantorno of AMNY.com said that Cohen is still viewed as the favorite despite the report from last night.

Charles Gasparino of Fox Business re-affirmed that Cohen is “100 percent” planning to submit a bid at the end of the month.
