Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets got a gritty 5-4 extra-inning win Wednesday night against the Marlins. The Mets looked out of it at the seventh inning stretch because the Marlins had just extended their lead to 4-0. However, Eduardo Escobar came alive when it mattered with three crucial hits: a two run home run in the seventh inning, a two RBI single in the eighth, and a walk-off single in the 10th.

Dan Quiñones has a more complete recap of the game.

The Braves also went into extra innings Wednesday, but they weren’t so fortunate as the Nationals walked them off in 10 innings. After briefly falling back into a tie, that gives the Mets sole possession of first with six games left in the regular season.

The Mets and the Braves both have today off before starting their series in Atlanta Friday night.

Now, it is time for the morning briefing.
