The Mets are back in the win column with a 4-1 win over the Cardinals on Thursday night. They improve to 13-13 to bring their record back to .500. The Mets return home to Citi Field tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET as they open a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It will be David Peterson (1-3, 4.81 ERA) for the Mets vs Zac Gallen (1-1, 3.48 ERA) for the Diamondbacks as the Mets look to start the series strong and improve to a winning record.

Jacob deGrom played catch on Thursday morning and reached as far as 90 feet, as John Flanigan reported for Metsmerized. He said he’s “feeling good” and could return as soon as Sunday.

As reported by Metsmerized’s Michael Mayer who was on Thursday’s Mets Zoom calls, Mets assistant hitting coach Kevin Howard said that he knows Francisco Lindor well from when they were together in Cleveland. However the two haven’t talked much prior about his swing. Howard said he’s excited for the opportunity to Coach the Mets because of his passion for hitting, but that it was emotional leaving his family and the minor leaguers he was working with.

Mayer also reported that Rojas said Joey Lucchesi is lined up to throw on tomorrow and threw a side if he’s going to start, but the Mets have made no commitment to him starting as of Thursday.

As Jon Morosi reported on MLB Network on Thursday, Mariners prospect Jarred Kelenic is likely to make his MLB debut later in May. Seattle’s left fielders have combined to hit .204 so far in the 2021 season. Morosi reports that the Mariners’ outfield could soon include Kelenic, Lewis, and Haniger.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, right-handed pitcher Tanner Roark has cleared waivers and become a free agent. Roark was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last week.

Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, Albert Pujols is being released by the Los Angeles Angels. Pujols is hitting .198/.250/.372 in 92 plate appearances through the 2021 season so far.

According to MiLB-Transactions, the Atlanta Braves have re-signed catcher Tyler Flowers to a minor league contract.
