In a thrilling comeback against both the weather and the Washington Nationals on Thursday night, the New York Mets scored two late runs after a rain delay of one hour and 37 minutes. They remained scoreless for six innings against Josiah Gray until their offense sparked in the eighth inning. Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso‘s consecutive singles set the stage for Daniel Vogelbach, whose single tied the game at 1-1. The momentum continued despite the weather interruption, and after the rain delay, Mark Canha‘s sacrifice fly-out secured the Mets a 2-1 lead in a dramatic fashion. 1993: In the 1992 season, Anthony Young started with success, winning his first game and securing another victory in relief. However, after that, he faced a record-breaking streak of 27 consecutive losses, lasting 465 days. On July 28, 1993, Young was on the verge of extending the streak to 28 losses, but he showed resilience during a tight game against the Mets and the Marlins. With the game tied in the ninth inning, he faced a tough situation with the bases loaded and no outs. Despite inducing a double play, he allowed a crucial RBI single. Fortunately, the Mets’ offense came through as Eddie Murray drove in a runner with a base hit, and Young finally earned a win, ending the long drought. Nonetheless, he finished the season with a difficult 1-16 record.
