Good morning, Mets’ fans.

It was a big day in Mets’ land yesterday. As first reported by Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Max Scherzer was traded to the Texas Rangers. The Mets received top-50 prospect Luisangel Acuña in exchange.

Following the news, the team laid an egg against the Washington Nationals. Carlos Carrasco’s struggles continued and New York lost Game 3 of the series 11-6.

The Mets and Nationals close out the series on Sunday at 1:40 pm ET. Justin Verlander, who also finds himself engulfed by trade rumors, will be on the mound for the Mets (5-5, 3.24 ERA) against Trevor Williams (5-5, 4.47 ERA) for the Nationals.
