Good morning! Tonight, Jacob deGrom looks to continue his Cy Young season against the Pirates at 7:05.

Last night, the Mets got out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to a homer from Michael Conforto. Conforto is now hitting .230/.353/.403 (110 wRC+) while striking out less than last year and walking more. Ultimately, the Pirates won 5-4.

Latest Mets News

The Mets traded Asdrubal Cabrera to the Phillies for righty starter, Franklyn Kilome. Kilome ranks fifth on MLB.com’s top Mets prospect list. I think Ronny Mauricio is better but overall, the return is very good. Kilome throws hard and he needs to refine his mechanics if he wants to stay in the rotation. He is currently in Double-A and it will likely be their the rest of 2018 per John Ricco. Nice job, Mets.

On Cabrera’s side, the he hit .279/.339/.464 with a 116 OPS+ over two-and-a half years with the Mets. He will always have his memorable bat flip against the Phillies. He was a very underrated player for the most part. Hope he does well in Philly.

John Ricco provided an interesting point when talking about trading with an inter-divisional trade.

Ricco also confirmed the obvious that Jeff McNeil will get the extended look at second base.

The latest update on the Wheeler front was that Devin Mesoraco was more likely to be dealt than him per Mike Puma of the NY Post. Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic said the Brewers and Mets talked about a package deal for Cabrera and Wheeler but now it would have to be just Wheeler.
