Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets split a doubleheader with the Phillies Saturday, winning the day game 8-2 but falling 4-1 in the nightcap.

Tim Healey of Newsday Sports reports that José Butto will make his MLB debut against the Phillies on Sunday in the series finale. Buck Showalter had previously said that Taijuan Walker could not make the start due to a back injury. Butto, 24, has been with the Mets organization since 2017. He posted a 4.00 ERA in 20 games with Binghamton (Double-A) this year. In two Triple-A starts, he gave up four runs in six innings. Mojo Hill has more on this story.

The Mets’ NL East lead over the Braves is down to three games. They’ll look to take the series over the Phillies with a win today.

Now, it is time for the morning briefing.
