Good morning, Mets fans!

Darryl Strawberry posted on his Instagram account that he suffered a heart attack on Monday night. Strawberry wrote that he was treated at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO, where they “restored his heart” through a stent procedure.

He seems to be okay and is in recovery. Strawberry was recently in Mets camp as an advisor.

Tylor Megill allowed one run and struck out two over four solid innings against the Marlins, but Tim Anderson‘s solo home run in the second inning was enough to hand the Mets a 1-0 defeat on Monday. The biggest news of the night though was Edwin Díaz‘s return to the mound, and he struck out Jesús Sánchez, Avisaíl García, and Jon Berti in order in the fifth inning. Díaz recorded all three of his strikeouts on sliders, and he averaged 97.1 miles per hour on his fastball, topping out at 98.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Monday that reigning AL Cy Young award winner Gerrit Cole will undergo an MRI on his pitching elbow. Cole reportedly hasn’t been recovering well after his starts so far this year.

Joe Torre was elected as the Vice-Chairman of the Hall of Fame by its board of directors. Torre was appointed to the board in 2023. The position was previously held by Joe Morgan from 2000 until his passing in 2020.

The Giants released J.D. Davis on Monday. He was placed on unconditional release waivers this past Saturday. In addition, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports that the Giants will only owe Davis $1.1 million due to a clause in the league’s CBA that doesn’t guarantee arbitration salaries that came from a hearing. Davis had won his arbitration case against the Giants in February, which would have awarded him $6.9 million.

Marlins righty Edward Cabrera will get an MRI on his right shoulder, manager Skip Schumaker said Monday. Cabrera was removed from his start on Sunday before he could throw a pitch due to tightness. Christian De Nicola of MLB.com reported that Cabrera’s strength tests came back fine.

The Braves have optioned right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver to Triple-A Gwinnett. The 21-year-old had been tagged for seven runs and 12 hits over 7 2/3 innings in three starts in Grapefruit League play. In 2023, Smith-Shawver posted a 4.26 ERA in 25 1/3 innings in the majors.

The Dodgers and Padres revealed their starters for the Seoul Series next week, with Tyler Glasnow facing off against Yu Darvish in the season opener. Yoshinobu Yamamoto will make his major league debut against Joe Musgrove in the second game.
