Bryce Harper fractured his left thumb Saturday night, per Matt Gelb of the Athletic. He was hit by a 97 mph fastball on the hand from Padres pitcher Blake Snell. A frustrated Harper seemingly acknowledged Snell showing his remorse as Harper left the field.

In better news on the Mets side, not only was good news reported about Jacob deGrom, but the Mets also ensured another series win Saturday afternoon. Thanks to a stellar two home run performance from Pete Alonso, the Mets defeated Miami 5-3.

New York will look to sweep the series early this afternoon at 12:05 P.M. ET. The pitching matchup is David Peterson (3.18 ERA) versus Daniel Castano (2.57 ERA).

Jacob deGrom threw to live hitters on Saturday as he continues to work forward toward his return from the injured list. He threw 20 pitches in Port St. Lucie Saturday. Buck Showalter described the session as going, “really well.”

According to Jacob Resnick of SNY, the Mets signed former major league infielder Deven Marrero to a minor league contract. Marrera is expected to report to Syracuse (Triple-A). Marrero’s latest MLB stint was in 2021. He played 10 games with the Miami Marlins.

Per Tim Healy of Newsday Sports, Colin Holderman will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse today.
