Good Morning, Mets fans! This afternoon, the New York Mets will take on the St. Louis Cardinals at 4:10 p.m. Zack Wheeler will take the ball for New York and will be opposed by Adam Wainwright.
Last night, the Mets won 6-5. The offense shined bright against the tough Carlos Martinez scoring five runs off him in five innings. Jay Bruce went 3-for-5 with a homer and won the “crown.”
Jacob deGrom allowed four home runs but very little beyond that. He went seven innings and the Mets bullpen gave up one run in the eighth but persevered. Addison Reed did what he does best, and that was pitch a quick and easy inning to record the save and give the Mets the win.
Rafael Montero was initially slated to start this evening, but Terry Collins said he made the decision to hand the ball to Wheeler instead.
