Good Morning Mets Fans. The New York Mets will send Robert Gsellman to the mound today as the team takes on Michael Wacha and the St. Louis Cardinals once more in a 1:05 PM ET start. Today’s game will not be broadcast on SNY or WOR, unfortunately.
Yesterday, Steven Matz made another successful spring start as he allowed just one run over 3.2 innings of work. The southpaw allowed two hits on the day while striking out three and walking three in the team’s 16-2 drubbing of the Cardinals. Matz also showcased his improved pickoff move as he picked a runner off in Friday’s game.

New York Mets ace, Noah Syndergaard will pitch in a minor league contest today as he continues to ready himself for the opening day start at Citi Field on April 3.
Mets Captain, David Wright spoke with Kevin Kernan of the NY Post on Friday to shed some light on his rehab process. Wright continues to fight to make his way back onto the field, it is hard not to admire his devotion to the sport.
Lucas Duda has struggled with injuries on and off in his career thus far with the Metropolitans. He has come to the realization that doing less work may be able to help him prolong his time in baseball and stay on the field more often. Seth Lugo continues to dazzle from afar as he has been lighting up the World Baseball Classic. The Mets pitcher went 5.2 innings in Friday’s 6-5 victory for Puerto Rico over the United States. He allowed three runs on five hits against a stacked US lineup. Although he has not been in camp, Lugo continues to impress and make a statement for the fifth spot in the Mets rotation.
Wilmer Flores continues to let Mets brass know that he is not happy in his current role after a game in which he had six RBI, including a grand slam on Friday. The Mets super utility man is without a set place and is still a backup player at this point in his career. He has proven his ability to play at a decent level and it is always hard not to wonder what he could be, if given the opportunity to have an everyday role.
NL EAST RUMBLINGS
Washington Nationals manager, Dusty Baker believes that the World Baseball Classic may be hurting Daniel Murphy. The Nationals second baseman has not had too many at-bats while playing for Team USA and it may be hindering his ability of being game-ready come opening day. The Philadelphia Phillies have some open spots on their 25-man opening day roster and the team will let it go down to the wire before they decide on who will or will not make it.
