Good morning, Mets fans!

The rumor mill continued to swirl Tuesday as the baseball world settles into the offseason. In addition to minor transactions occurring all over baseball, Mets general manager Billy Eppler updated reporters on his negotiations with Jacob deGrom, saying that he’s had friendly and professional conversations with the ace pitcher.

“Just transparent,” Eppler said of the interactions. “Talking about being with each other on every step of the way.”

Eppler also addressed the second elephant in the room, which is Brandon Nimmo‘s free agency. Particularly with how quickly the Mets got a deal with Díaz done, it’s no secret that fans are going to be anticipating the Mets to lock up their other stars.

“Brandon, just like Jake, knows how we feel about him,” Eppler said. “But again, he’s reached a point in his contract where he’s afforded the opportunity to look around. But I think there’s gonna be strong communication there as well.”
