Edwin Díaz took a positive step towards his return on Tuesday. 

The Mets’ closer throwing to bases and fielding his position for the first time since his ACL surgery, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Díaz faced batters on Feb. 15 for the first time. 

He threw live batting practice on Tuesday, facing both Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso

1975, 1981: In 1975, the Mets purchased Dave Kingman from the San Francisco Giants for $150,000. Exactly six years later, Kingman was acquired from the Cubs for a second stint with the team. In total, Kingman played 664 games with the Mets, hitting 154 home runs and earning an All-Star nod once.
