Good Morning Mets fans!

Closer Edwin Díaz threw a bullpen on Tuesday and could pitch in a minor league game on Thursday, manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters before Tuesday’s win over the Washington Nationals.

“Let’s see how he feels tomorrow and then there’s a chance he could be pitching in a game on Thursday in the minor leagues,” said Mendoza.

Díaz was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement on May 29.

The injury came amid a horrid stretch for Diaz, who has a 5.40 ERA this season and had blown four of his nine save opportunities.

In 2022, Diaz was arguably the MLB’s most dominant closer, pitching to a 1.31 ERA and converting on 32 saves in 35 opportunities.
