Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets got two bits of tough news Friday. First, they learned that Jacob deGrom suffered a stress reaction in his right scapula, which is going to lead to him missing over a month of the season.

They then learned that Max Scherzer had a tweak in his hamstring. Thankfully, for Scherzer, it seems that there will not be any concern about it.

Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reported that Max Scherzer is scheduled to start a sim game Saturday against minor leaguers. However, this injury could potentially derail that possible start.

That being said, Mike Puma of the New York Post reported that Scherzer is still scheduled to make his start Saturday.

Because deGrom is going to miss more than a month of the season, the Mets also need a new Opening Day starter. It would make the most sense that Max Scherzer would become the Opening Day starter in his wake.

Assuming Scherzer is healthy, it would make the most sense that Buck Showalter gives Scherzer the nod on Opening Day.
