Good morning, Mets fans!

Robert Murray of FanSided reported that former-Met Curtis Granderson is one of the people under consideration for the Mets managerial position.

Granderson, 40, spent almost four full seasons with the Mets. During that time, he had a slash line of .239/.341/.444 with 95 home runs and 247 RBI. His personality was infectious throughout his time in Queens, and even won the 2016 Roberto Clemente Award.

Andy Martino of SNY reported that he isn’t likely to interview, and that the Mets are looking for someone with more experience.

Martino also released a list of other reported candidates for the Mets managerial position. The list consists of: Joe Espada, Buck Showalter, Matt Quatraro, Don Kelly, and Brad Ausmus. These are all people that have received preliminary interest, and doesn’t necessary include everyone the Mets are targeting.

Espada, Quartaro, and Kelly all come with no managerial experience. However, they are all bench coaches at the moment. Bench coaches take on a lot of the same responsibilities as manager, and are usually the first replacement when a manager gets ejected.

Now that Major League Baseball is in a lockout, teams are pivoting their focus to filling their coaching staffs. The Mets have to fill their managerial position, and have said that all other coaching spots are up in the air as well.
