As initially reported by Tim Healey of Newsday and Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the Mets shook up their coaching staff. Former hitting coach Pat Roessler will not return for a second season. Former first coach Ruben Amaro Jr will shift to an advising role to Brodie Van Wagenen while Glenn Sherlock moved across the diamond and will take over Amaro’s post. Former bench coach Gary DiSarcina will replace Sherlock at third. Finally, bullpen coach Ricky Bones will be reassigned to a front office role.

Jon Heyman of FanCred thinks that Jim Riggleman might take over for DiSarcina.

Heyman also tweeted out some news that made my day: Bartolo Colon intends to pitch in 2019.

The finalists for BBWAA’s awards were announced. Expectedly, Jacob deGrom was one of the three finalists for the NL Cy Young but he was snubbed from receiving the NL MVP award. The full list of nominees can be found here.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network also thinks the Mets have a shot at signing Manny Machado.

Joel Sherman of The New York Post also hears that Van Wagenen’s contract is for four years and $10 million.

Brodie Van Wagenen had dinner with Peter Alonso to discuss his impressive Arizona Fall League.

Former Met Manager Davey Johnson is one of the 10 people that are part of the Hall of Fame’s 2019 Veterans Committee.
