Good morning, Mets fans!

The official “semi-final” round of the MLB playoffs began Friday, as the Astros hosted the Red Sox in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. Both starting pitchers, Chris Sale and Framber Valdez, only lasted 2.2 IP. The Red Sox held a 3-1 lead until the sixth inning, as Jose Altuve hit a two-run homer.

The blast sent Minute Maid Park into a frenzy, as the game was now tied at three. The next inning, Carlos Correa hit a no-doubter to give the Astros a 4-3 lead. Kiké Hernández had the game of his life, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and two RBI. However, that effort wasn’t enough for the Red Sox, as the Astros held on for a 5-4 victory. Following the thrilling game one, the two clubs will meet Saturday at 4:20 PM ET, as Nathan Eovaldi takes the ball for the Red Sox, and Luis Garcia will do the pitching for the Astros.

The National League Championship Series begins Saturday, as the Dodgers head to Atlanta for the first of seven in a rematch of the 2020 NLCS. While the Dodgers had the better record, them being the Wild Card winner prevents them from having home field advantage in the series. Max Muncy‘s NLCS status is unknown, as the team ponder whether to include him on the roster. The Dodgers have yet to announce a starter for Game 1, as Max Fried will get the ball for the Braves. Game one starts at 8:08 PM ET.
