The Yankees have acquired OF Andrew Benintendi for three pitching prospects (Chandler Champlain, T.J. Sikkema, and Beck Way). Aaron Boone believes that the left-handed-hitting Benintendi, an AL All-Star this season, can make a very strong lineup even stronger.

True Gravity Baseball announced that they have signed Mets ninth-round pick Chase Estep. Estep had a .302/.416./560 line with 17 doubles, 13 homers, and 16 stolen bases last season while playing for the University of Kentucky.

Jacob Degrom pitched yesterday for the Syracuse Mets. Jacob deGrom pitched four innings (67 pitches, 41 strikes) and allowed four earned runs and two home runs. deGrom retired the last seven batters that he faced. Michael Mayer reports that his fastball reached 98 mph and his slider reached 92 mph.

Trevor May also appeared yesterday for the Syracuse Mets. He pitched one inning (18 pitches, 11 strikes) and allowed an earned run.

Pete Alonso hit his 26th home run of the season last night, and his 132nd as a Met. He is now tied with Michael Conforto for seventh most home runs in franchise history.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the announced attendance of 43,693 at Citi Field last night is the 10th-largest regular season crowd in the ballpark’s history.

Trout told Jeff Fletcher, “I got to stay on top of the routine I do on a daily basis to prevent it from coming back. I feel good where it’s at right now. Every day it’s improving. I felt really good today.” Fletcher also reports that Mike Trout plans to play again this season.
