2002: On August 18, 2002, the Mets posthumously inducted Tommie Agee into their Hall of Fame. Agee was a key player in the 1969 World Championship team, known for his power, speed, and defensive prowess. He led the team with 26 home runs that year and made memorable catches in the World Series. In 1970, he became the first Met to win a Gold Glove and steal over 30 bases. Knee injuries slowed him down in 1971, leading to his retirement at 30. Post-retirement, Agee stayed active with the Mets and the community, even opening a restaurant near Shea Stadium. Sadly, he passed away from a heart attack in January 2001 at age 58.
