The Mets found themselves in a 3-1 hole in the bottom of the sixth, but they were able to score three runs and take the lead due to a fielding error, a wild pitch, and a double play. Cortes drove in a key insurance run with a solo shot in the seventh to give him four home runs in the last seven games.

Baty added another hit to give him a hit in five of his last six games and Mauricio picked up his 20th stolen base of the year.

Double-A

Portland Sea Dogs (61-49) 10, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (54-55) 7

BOX SCORE

The Rumble Ponies tried to make it a game when they turned a 10-1 deficit to 10-7 when they scored six in the bottom of the eighth. Jordan had an RBI double to drive in one of those runs, which gave him 20 doubles on the season.

As for Gilbert, he continues to hit the ball since coming to the Mets organization. He has a hit in four straight games (multiple hits in three of them) and he has 12 total bases over that stretch.

While Stuart only allowed one extra-base hit in the loss, it was his second consecutive rough outing at the Double-A level. In the third, the Sea Dogs loaded the bases with nobody out (two walks, single) and all three runs came around to score on a double. The 23-year-old did have his most strikeouts in an outing since June 22 when he was with Brooklyn, but the three walks in that third inning also tied a season-high.

High-A

Hudson Valley Renegades (61-49) 7, Brooklyn Cyclones (54-55) 1

BOX SCORE

The Cyclones offense managed only one hit and that was a single by Williams in the bottom of the sixth. Against three different Renegades pitchers, the offense combined to strike out 13 times. In addition to the single, Williams had another walk to give him 14 in 14 games at High-A and 83 total on the year (.459 OBP in the last 14 games).

  • RHP Jordany Ventura (3-1, 3.56): 4 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 5 BB, 4 K (36 of 70 pitches for strikes)

As a staff, the five Cyclones combined to have 10 walks with five of them coming from Ventura. It is the most walks the 23-year-old has had in his six starts at High-A. Four of the five walks came in the innings in which Hudson Valley put up the runs against him (first and fifth inning).

Low-A

Jupiter Hammerheads (57-53) 4, St. Lucie Mets (37-72) 3 In 10 Innings

BOX SCORE

On a day when the Mets offense was 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position, Lara carried the day with three of the team’s eight hits. Parada began his rehab assignment and he had three groundouts and a strikeout in his four at-bats.

By far, the best pitching performance of the day came from De La Cruz. The 22-year-old left-hander struck out the final four hitters he faeed and had a season-high ten strikeouts. This month, he has 23 strikeouts to 4 walks over the course of 16 2/3 innings (3 starts). The 23 K’s are the most in the Florida State League and he has the most K’s of any pitcher currently still in the FSL this year (114).

Florida Complex League

FCL Astros (24-23) 4, FCL Mets (29-18) 1 In 7 innings

Baro had a single in that inning to extend his hit streak to four games. Meanwhile, Hernandez has drawn at least one walk in seven of the last eight games.

The third inning was the main source of offense for the Astros against Ferrer, as they had two players go back-to-back for three of the team’s four runs. Banks (10th Round pick in this year’s draft) allowed the first earned run of his professional career.
