Good morning, Mets fans!
Luisangel Acuña exited Friday night’s Venezuelan Winter League game after being hit by a pitch on the forearm. As Mike Mayer noted, he wasn’t in the lineup Saturday.

In 17 games so far in this winter ball season, Acuña is batting .208 with a .391 OBP. It’s a small sample (69 plate appearances), but he’s walked nearly 19% of the time. His OBP over 233 plate appearances in the major leagues is just .299.
Acuña contributed to the Mets this past season, appearing in 95 games and stealing 16 bases. But his bat really slumped as the season went on. He ended up with just a .567 OPS. His floor is somewhat high because of his defense and baserunning, but the bat leaves real questions about his future role on the team.
