A day after designating Kevin McGowan for assignment to make room for Jay Bruce on the 40-man roster, the Mets did the same to Chasen Bradford yesterday to make room for Adrian Gonzalez.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com shared that Gonzalez said he plans on working with Dominic Smith during spring training “to help him become the best Major Leaguer he can be.”

Gonzalez also addressed his poor reputation from his final year with the Boston Red Sox by mentioning how he “became somebody I didn’t want to be.” He then promised he truly isn’t like that.

The Mets made a couple of minor league moves by re-signing Triple-A catcher Jeff Glenn and releasing Ronald Guedez from Kingsport according to Jacob Resnick of MetsMinors.net.

The player’s union formally rejected an MLB pace-of-play proposal according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Rob Manfred has the power to implement a pitch clock regardless, but is focused on working out a deal. Rosenthal adds that Manfred will meet with union leader Tony Clark next week.
