Good morning, Mets fans!
It was another fantastic weekend to be a fan of the Amazins. Pete Alonso hit two home runs against the Rockies on Sunday, which moved him into sole possession of second place on the franchise all-time home run list with 243.
Alonso surpassed David Wright for second all-time, and is nine home runs away from Darryl Strawberry to become the Mets’ all-time home run king. Wright recorded and posted this message for Alonso after his accomplishment:

Alonso was not the only hot bat in the lineup this weekend. The team swept the Rockies, including an emphatic 13-5 victory on Sunday. In that last game, Jeff McNeil had three hits, two home runs and four RBIs. Francisco Alvarez joined the party with a 450-foot home run to center field, the second long ball of the year for the struggling young catcher.

In addition to the Mets’ success, other teams in the NL East faltered over the weekend. The Phillies got swept by the 26-40 Pirates. That marks five straight losses for the Phillies, and a 1-9 record in their past 10 games. That struggle has allowed the Mets to take a 4.5-game lead over their division rival.
Similarly, the Mets have a 14-game lead over the Atlanta Braves, who have faltered to the tune of 27-37 on the season.
