Mets fans, we have an all-new episode of MMO Weekly ready!

This week, Mike and I discuss Justin Verlander and Kodai Senga‘s first spring starts, Francisco Lindor being voted captain of team Puerto Rico, Brett Baty and his hot spring training continues, and much more!

Will Francisco Álvarez or Brett Baty have a bigger impact on the big league club in 2023? For Mike, it will come down to whoever has more of an opportunity to play and produce:

“I think it will be Baty simply because he’s likely to get more opportunities. Omar Narváez and Tomas Nído are locked in for the next two years and Eduardo Escobar is only locked in for the one year and has some positional flexibility, so I think Baty gets more opportunities from the Mets. They are also more willing to deal with the defense at third from Baty as far as defensive limitations than they would behind the plate. Baty is also three years older than Álvarez, and in my opinion the better player compared to Escobar at third base, which adds to my point. It also seems weird that we haven’t even mentioned Ronnie Mauricio who’s having a great spring along with Baty as well as Mark Vientos, which is something to be excited about for not only the future but the present.”
