Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week I’m joined once again by friend of the show Jacob Resnick to discuss the re-signing of center fielder Brandon Nimmo, the additions of pitchers David Robertson and José Quintana, and more!

Was it surprising for the Mets to give an eight-year contract t0 Nimmo? The years might have been surprising, but Jacob believes that these are the games you need to play in order to retain big free agents:

“From a pure Mets fan excitement standpoint it’s great. The deal is pretty much what they had to do and needed to get done, it seemed like the Mets might have been a little on the fence about it, but Steve Cohen gave the green light [according to reports]. Eight years is a bit more than anyone was probably expecting, but as we’ve seen time and again when you’re dealing with top free agents, you’re not paying for what they’re going to do in the last two or three years of that long-term contract but for what they can do right now. Considering when you look at the centerfield market after Nimmo, it was pretty much non existent so the Mets did what they had to do and got their guy.”
