Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I are joined by Mets beat writer for the Athletic, Tim Britton!

Tim had some great discussions with us about the postseason, Buck Showalter‘s first season managing in Queens, Edwin Diaz historic 2022, Jacob deGrom‘s possible departure from New York, and the rest of the Mets long list of free agents, could the Mets finally land their dream executive in David Stearns, and much more!

Just how dominant was Edwin Diaz’s 2022 season?

“I’ve been fortunate to cover some really good closers during my career, but Diaz in terms of the ease of his 9th innings, the consistencies of them, and the dominance of Diaz’s stuff that he was striking out so many hitters. He had a nice start to the year and then Diaz just turned it on to another level and never let off that gas it felt like from May through the rest of the season, he didn’t have a hiccup. That’s pretty remarkable in that sort of role especially considering where he came from in 2019. We write people off so quickly in this market and Diaz never expressed public frustrations that you see from players sometimes, and I think that speaks to Diaz’s restraint, mental fortitude, and why he’s such a good fit for that closer’s role.”
