The Mets look to keep on winning tonight as Bartolo Colon and Brandon Finnegan face off at Citi Field. Last night was another power show for the Mets as they smashed three homers to back Syndergaard and the bullpen to take the series opener. Neil Walker moved farther into the record books with his 8th homer of the month and Familia finally had a clean 9th inning. It wasn’t all smiles though as d’Arnaud felt discomfort in his shoulder and had to be removed from the game.
New York has scored first in 12 straight games dating to April 12, the longest such streak in team history…The previous mark was 11 straight games accomplished in 1991 and 1987…Info courtesy of the Elias Sports Bureau.
New York has hit 28 home runs this year, only Arizona (30) and St. Louis (30) have hit more. Since April 15, the Mets lead the majors with 26 home runs with Arizona and St. Louis tied for second with 19 during that span.

Bartolo Colon is 1-1 over 4 games and 3 starts logging 18.2 innings with a 2.89 ERA allowing 18 hits and 2 walks with 17 strikeouts. Colon hasn’t faced the Reds since 2014 where he allowed 2 ER and 7 hits over 7.0 innings. The Reds have the following numbers against Colon:
- Phillips 2-15
- Bruce 1-5, HR
- Hamilton 1-4

Brandon Finnegan is only the second lefty starter the Mets have faced in 2016 (something you’ll hear a lot, probably, in today’s broadcast). Brandon is 1-1 over 4 games and 21.2 innings with a 3.74 ERA this season while walking 12 and striking out 18. He looked great in his first two starts (12.2 innings, 4 runs) and not so great in his last two (9.0 innings, 9 runs, 5 earned). Last year he went 5-2 over 20 games, 4 starts, split between the Royals and the Reds logging a 3.56 ERA. He’s never faced the Mets before but a few Mets have seen him while with other teams:
- Cespedes 0-4
- De Aza 2-3
- Cabrera 0-2
Let’s Go Mets!
