The Mets will try to put their last series behind them as they head to Texas to take on the Rangers. The Mets fell apart Friday night, rebounded Saturday night and never showed up on Sunday as they dropped two of three to the Pirates.

The Mets went 3-4 on their seven-game homestand and are 5-5 in their last 10 games.

Tuesday, Jacob deGrom will get a shot at redemption. On the season, he is 4-2 over 11 games and 68 innings with a 3.97 ERA, 3.58 FIP and 1.368 WHIP.

In back to back games, he allowed one run over 15 1/3 innings, but his last start against the Brewers wasn’t as kind to him, as he allowed eight hits and five walks over four innings leading to seven runs. Only two Rangers have seen deGrom in a major league game. Jonathan Lucroy is 2-for-12 with a double and Andrew Cashner is 0-for-1.

The Mets will face an old friend tonight in Dillon Gee. Gee was a Met through 2015 and spent last year with the Royals with a 8-9 record over 33 games (14 started).

In 125 innings, Gee pitched to a 4.68 ERA, 5.25 FIP and 1.464 WHIP.

Since joining the Rangers this year, Gee has pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing three hits in his first appearance and allowed two hits and four runs on zero earned in four innings.

Tonight will be Gee’s first start this year. In the minors this year, he is 3-4 over nine starts with a 3.88 ERA in 51 innings.

Notes:

New York is 3-8 in its last 11 road games and 10-12 overall. The Mets have played the fewest road games in the majors thus far this year. The Mets will play 16 of their next 23 games away from Citi Field.

The Mets have hit at least one home run in 20 of their 22 road games, including nine straight road games. The last longer such streak on the road was last year when the club hit a homer in 13 straight road games from August 3-23. The only road games the Mets did not go deep this year was April 16 at Miami and May 3 at Atlanta. The Mets have 10 homers in their last five road games and 42 road home runs overall, which ranks fourth in the majors.

New York has 20 home runs in its last 14 games. Overall, the Mets are fifth in the NL with 75 home runs.

Lucas Duda has six homers in his last 11 games. Duda is hitting .353 (18-for-51) with five doubles, six homers, 14 RBI and nine runs scored in his last 13 games. Duda has reached base safely in 20 of his last 22 games for a .389 on-base percentage. Duda has 118 career home runs, tied with Ed Kranepool for the 10th most in franchise history. Edgardo Alfonzo is ninth on the list with 120 homers.

Wilmer Flores has homered in two of his last four games. He is hitting .375 (30-for-83) since May 1, the second-highest average in the majors (min. 70 plate appearances) behind Houston’s Marwin Gonzalez (.384). Flores has 10 multi-hit games in his last 18 starts. Flores is 23-for-his-last-57 (.404) with two homers and 10 RBI vs. right-handed pitching and is hitting .385 (10-for-26) with two homers vs. left-handers. Overall, Flores is hitting .313 (36-for-115) with five homers and 16 RBI.

Jacob deGrom has won four of his last five decisions. Since his major league debut on May 15, 2014, deGrom has a 2.89 ERA (176 earned runs/547.1 innings pitched) in 87 career starts. His 2.89 ERA is the sixth-lowest ERA in the majors in that time (minimum 500 innings). He is 5-3 with a 1.95 ERA (16 earned runs/73.2 innings) in 11 career starts vs. AL teams.

Michael Conforto has six home runs, 15 RBI and 17 runs scored in his last 19 games. Conforto has a career-best 14 home runs this year, which is tied for seventh in the NL. He ranks sixth in the majors with a 1.038 OPS, 10th in the majors with a .410 on-base percentage, tied for 10th in the NL with 38 runs scored and 10th in the NL with a .308 batting average.

Tonight will be Dillon Gee’s first start against the Mets. He pitched two innings of relief vs. the Mets on June 21, 2016 with Kansas City.  Gee was drafted by New York in the 21st round in the 2007 First Year Player Draft and went 40-37 with a 4.03 ERA in 114 games, 110 starts with the Mets from 2010-2015.
