jacob deGrom

The New York Mets will host the Washington Nationals at 1:10 PM at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie. RHP Jacob deGrom will start for Mets and will oppose RHP Stephen Strasburg for the Nationals.

Team Notes:

The Mets have optioned OF Alex Castellanos and RHP Chasen Bradford to minor league camp, bringing the total number of players still in big-league camp to 37.

Reporter Jon Santucci says Vic Black is set to resume throwing off a mound on Saturday. He will throw 20 pitches. Black is at risk of starting the season on the DL with a weak shoulder. It’s 50/50 at this point, but the Mets can backdate it and he’d likely miss just a few games.

Adam Rubin points out that if Matt Reynolds or Daniel Muno starts on Opening Day, he would become the Mets’ 11th second baseman in 15 openers. The others: Edgardo Alfonzo (2001), Roberto Alomar (’02, ’03), Ricky Gutierrez (’04), Kazuo Matsui (’05), Anderson Hernandez (’06), Jose Valentin (’07), Luis Castillo (’08, ’09, ’10), Brad Emaus (’11), Murphy (’12, ’13), Eric Young Jr. (’14).
