The Mets’ bats will get a look at Austin Gomber. Gomber has made seven starts and has pitched 39 innings this season with a 4.38 ERA, 4.45 FIP, 1.231 WHIP and a 104 ERA+. In his last two starts he has allowed eight earned runs via nine hits and five walks over 11 1/3rd innings.

Gomber did face the Mets last season, his first start with the Rockies against New York, in Queens. He went deep into the game, eight innings, allowing only two runs via four hits while walking none and striking out eight. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

Rockies Lineup

Taijuan Walker gets the start for the Mets. Over five starts and 23 innings this season, he has a 3.52 ERA, 4.09 FIP, 1.217 WHIP and a 111 ERA+. This will be his first start this season against a team whose primary color isn’t red (three starts against the Phillies, one start each against the Nationals and Cardinals).

After shutting out the Nationals on the May 12th over seven innings, Walker allowed three runs over five innings against the Cardinals in a game the Mets eventually lost 4-3. The Rockies have the following numbers against Walker:

Game Notes

David Peterson will start the series opener against the Giants in San Francisco tomorrow. Chris Bassitt is expected to start Tuesday and the starter Wednesday is to be determined.

The New York Mets will look to avoid losing their second series of the season. They are currently 11-0-1 in their first 12 series this season.

Francisco Lindor is three RBIs from 500 in his career.

The Mets have won 13 straight games over losing the previous game. They are 13-1 following a loss this season.
