While the Baltimore Orioles are one of the worst teams in baseball based on their record, the one thing they can still do is hit. Pitching is sometimes a struggle for them, but the former was on display last night at the Orioles beat the Mets 10-3.
The Mets lineup, after getting a 2-0 lead in the first, couldn’t stay in the game. It was hitting parade for Baltimore, as they piled up 16 hits, with Peterson allowing four in 2 2/3 innings and Robert Gsellman allowing four runs as well in relief.
On the positive side of things – Pete Alonso had a good night, hitting two homers and driving all three of the Mets runs. Hopefully New York can turns things around tonight against a former friend in Matt Harvey.

The Mets will try to bounce back tonight behind Taijuan Walker. Walker has made 10 starts and pitched 54.0 innings this year with a 2.17 ERA, 3.07 FIP, 1.056 WHIP and a 179 ERA+.
He’s coming off of his second-worst start of the season where he allowed four runs (3 ER), over five innings from seven hits and four walks against the Padres. Before that he had a four-start stretch where he allowed just two runs (1 ER) over 22.0 innings. This includes a start against the Orioles where he allowed one run off four hits and three walks in seven innings of work. The Orioles have the following numbers against Walker:

The Mets get another Harvey Day!
In 12 starts and 51 2/3 innings this year, Harvey has a 6.62 ERA, 4.52 FIP, 1.606 WHIP and a 65 ERA+. He’s coming off of one of his better starts, allowing one run off two hits against the Twins, although he only pitched three innings – possibly a change of strategy?
In his four previous starts he allowed 24 runs (23 ER), over 13 2/3 innings. This includes a 4 2/3 inning start against the Mets where he allowed seven earned runs. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

Game Notes:
- Manager Luis Rojas said that the plan is for Luis Guillorme to join the Mets at some point this weekend, when the team returns to Citi Field. Guillorme is currently playing out a rehab assignment in Syracuse.
- After originally planning on starting Joey Lucchesi on Saturday, the Mets decided to push his start back to Sunday to keep Marcus Stroman on more regular rest.
- Rojas also reiterated that Jeff McNeil is expected to begin a rehab assignment as soon as this weekend.
