The Mets will try to take the series from the Marlins tonight after yesterday’s comeback win! The Mets were down early, and behind Starling Marte, they were able to tie it back up to four runs each until Brandon Nimmo hit a go-ahead homer late in the game. Edwin Díaz shut the door in the ninth!

Marlins Lineup

Carlos Carrasco is on the mound tonight as the Mets attempt their fifth win in a row. Over 19 games and 104 innings, Carrasco has a 4.07 ERA, 3.53 FIP, 1.346 WHIP, and a 98 ERA+. Carrasco’s last start kicked off the current winning streak, as he shutout the Padres over five innings. In July, he has made four starts, totaling 22 1/3 innings, allowing only three runs on 24 hits and seven walks while striking out 20 batters (1.21 ERA, 2.85 FIP).

Carrasco has made two starts against the Marlins this season. He allowed three runs from eight hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings in June. He allowed two runs from seven hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings in July. The Marlins have the following career numbers against him:

Mets Lineup

The Mets will get a look at Nick Neidert today. This was originally Trevor Rogers‘ spot in the rotation, and he was placed on the injured list yesterday. Neidert pitched for triple-A Jacksonville last Sunday (seven innings, two runs).

Neidert pitched in the majors last season, where he totaled 35 2/3 innings over eight games with a 4.54 ERA, 5.81 FIP, 1.514 WHIP, and a 93 ERA+. He has pitched in 13 games for the Marlins AAA club in Jacksonville this season with seven starts. Over 40.0 innings, Neidert has a 2.25 ERA and a 1.100 WHIP.

Last season Neidert pitched against the Mets twice. The first game was his 2021 debut, where he held the Mets to one run over 4 1/3 innings from three hits and five walks. Then in August, he allowed three runs from three hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings. The Mets have the following career numbers against him:

Brandon Nimmo hit a game-winning two-run home run last night. He is batting .306/.402/.518 with 43 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 28 RBI, and 25 walks in 50 road games this season. Nimmo’s .402 road OBP is second in the National League and places him sixth in the majors.

Starling Marte is batting .373 (22-59) with six runs, two doubles, two homers, five RBI, five walks with a .431 OBP and a .508 SLG in 15 games this month. He has recorded a hit in 13 of those 15 games.
