bartolo colon

The New York Mets head to Jupiter to play the Miami Marlins in a 1:05 PM matinee on Saturday at Roger Dean Stadium. The game will be broadcast on WOR 710 AM.

Righthander Bartolo Colon, who is expected to start the second game of the season, opposes Marlins lefthander Brad Hand.

In his second spring start on Monday, Colon allowed four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, with no strikeouts and one walk. He also surrendered two home runs. Terry Collins came away impressed and said, “He’s exactly what he’s been advertised. A strike throwing machine.”

Second baseman Daniel Murphy, who was expected to return to the lineup on Saturday, did not make the trip to Jupiter to face the Miami Marlins

He told reporters that he’s feeling better and is still unsure of when he’ll return to the lineup however says it’s not a big deal.

Terry Collins held Murphy out a week to start spring training, hoping to avoid injury. He got hurt running the bases last Sunday with a calf injury that resulted from a slide at second base, and has not played since.
