VEGAS, BABY!!!

The New York Mets now head to Las Vegas for a rare two-game exhibition series against the Chicago Cubs beginning with a a game tonight at 8:05 PM. Right-handed pitching prospect Paul Sewald will start for the Mets and will oppose right-hander Ryan Williams for the Cubs at Cashman Field. Also expected to pitch for the Mets is RHP Chasen Bradford.

On Friday, LHP Steven Matz will opposes RHP Jason Hammel in the final tuneup before Opening Night on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. First pitch is at 4:05 PM.

RHP Jacob deGrom threw 71 pitches during a simulated game in Port St. Lucie on Thursday. DeGrom was initially scheduled to pitch in Las Vegas tonight, but stayed behind in Florida to be close with his wife who is due with the couple’s first child early next week. He is slated to start the Mets’ home opener on April 8.
