Mets Notes

Daniel Murphy had five plate appearances in a minor-league game Saturday, but did not run after making contact. It marked his first game action since injuring his right calf one week ago. Today, he’s penciled into the lineup batting and playing second.

Both Lucas Duda and Ike Davis are playing first base as the competition between them heats up. Davis had a big game on Saturday and has homered in consecutive games. Duda requested and got the day off yesterday.

The suddenly hot Ruben Tejada is batting leadoff for the fourth time this spring. But I’m beginning to wonder if Chris Young – who I initially discounted – can handle leadoff duties, especially against lefthanders? I must say, he’s been very impressive this spring and maybe he pulls a Marlon Byrd on us.

If you thought Wilmer Flores would get another start at shortstop, especially after two solid efforts in the field and at the plate, forget it. He gets to ride the pine today and continues to look like he’ll begin the season in Vegas rather than the Mets.

Enjoy the games and Lets Go Mets!
