The Mets finally return home after being away for 10 games (nine games, one was postponed)! At times, it was a frustrating road trip with late dropped games, gems by starters ruined by the bullpen, starters not starting, etc.

But there were come back wins, surges of offense and the Mets still find themselves in first place. One month into the season the NL East has turned into a race between the Braves and the Mets and a good series by the Mets could put some day light between them, a good one by the Braves means they take first place.

Notes

Yoenis Céspedes is second in the NL and fifth in the majors with 25 RBI. Céspedes has hit in six straight games, going 8-for-21 (.381) with two homers, seven RBI and four runs scored. He had 21 RBI in April, tied for the sixth most RBI for April in team history. His 21 RBI are tied for the fourth-most he’s ever had in a calendar month (also: September, 2015). He had 23 RBI in August, 2015 and April, 2016 and 22 RBI in August, 2014.

Michael Conforto has reached base safely in all 20 games he’s appeared in this season. It is the second-longest active
streak in the majors and it is the longest streak of his career. He is the eighth Met (nine times) to have started a season by reaching base safely in 20 or more straight games, last done by Carlos Beltrán in 2009 when he reached in 25 consecutive games. John Olerud holds the franchise mark, reaching base safely in 30 consecutive games to begin the 1999 campaign.

Jay Bruce has hit in seven straight games going, 11-for-30 (.367) with one double, one triple, one home run and five RBI during that stretch.

Noah Syndergaard has a 2.65 ERA (64 earned runs/217.2 innings) at Citi Field since 2015, the eighth-lowest ERA at home in the majors during that span (min. 200 innings).

Let’s Go Mets!
