The Mets had a terrible June, but are undefeated in July! On Sunday Steven Matz and company beat the Miami Marlins, avoided the sweep and guaranteed Mets fans more than a day of not knowing the sting of defeat. Now the Mets find themselves north of the border to finish the home/away set started earlier this year with the Jays.

Wheeler will get the start for the Mets. He is 2-6 over 15 games and 88.2 innings with a 4.47 ERA, 3.67 FIP, 1.331 WHIP, 85 ERA+. He is coming off a strong start, shutting out the Pirates in seven innings allowing five hits and a walk. It was the second seven inning shutout performance in June for Zack. In May he faced the Jays and it was ugly as he allowed six runs over four innings from seven hits and three walks. The Blue Jays have the following numbers against Wheeler:

The Mets will get Marco Estrada who is 4-7 over 16 games and 89.1 innings with a 4.53 ERA, 4.41 FIP, 1.299 WHIP and 93 ERA+. In his last two starts he has allowed six runs, five earned, over 12.0 innings. He did not face the Mets back in May but some Mets have seen him in games before:

Notes

José Bautista will play his first game in Toronto as a visitor since June 24, 2004 as a member of the Rays tonight. From 2008-17, Bautista hit 288 homers, the second most in franchise history. He ranks third in team history with 766 RBI, second in walks (803), had a .372 OBP and appeared in the fifth-most games in team history (1,235).

Bautista has a .418 OBP since joining the Mets on May 22. He has reached base safely in 15 of his last 16 games. Bautista has three homers and six RBI over his last nine contests. He is hitting .300 (12-for-40) with five doubles, three homers, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored over his last 14 games. He has drawn 15 base-on-balls in his last 16 games and 24 walks in 36 games with the Mets since May 22.

Amed Rosario has walked six times in his last three games, including at least one walk in three straight games. He is hitting .286 (12-for-42) with a .388 OBP over his last 16 games.

Zack Wheeler has pitched at least six innings in 11 of his 15 starts this year, including seven of his last eight starts. Eight of those 11 starts of at least six innings have been quality starts. Wheeler enters tonight’s game with 8.0 scoreless innings dating to June 22.

Wilmer Flores has driven in nine runs in his last eighth games and has 12 RBI in his last 13 games. Flores has hit in career high-tying nine straight games, going 10-for-34 (.294). He also had a nine-game streak from Aug. 18-31, 2016. He has reached base in a career-best 16 straight games with a plate appearance. Over his last 35 games, Flores is batting .294 (32-for-109) with nine doubles, four home runs, 20 RBI, 11 runs scored, 10 walks and a .347 OBP (dating back to May 4).

Michael Conforto has a 15.2 percent walk rate for the year, ranking ninth in the majors. Conforto has 45 walks this year, his second-most behind the 57 he had last year in 373 at-bats. He has four doubles, three homers, 12 walks and eight RBI in his last 18 games. Conforto has a .385 on-base percentage during that span.
