The Mets send lefty Steven Matz to the mound to make his Spring Training debut against Edinson Volquez and the Marlins today for a 1:05 start at Roger Dean Stadium. The Mets lineup features the future, including Dominic Smith, Amed Rosario, Luis Guillorme, Wuilmer Becerra, and of course, Michael Conforto.

Matt Harvey made his debut against the Cardinals on Sunday. After pitching a perfect first inning with two strikeouts, Harvey was greeted in the second by a ground rule double by Tommy Pham. He then hit Matt Adams to put runners on first and second, bringing up Jose Martinez who cleared the bases with a three-run homer to put the Cardinals up 3-1 at the time. Harvey was sitting at 92-94 mph on his fastball.

In World Baseball Classic news, Israel beat Korea by a score of 2-1 in 10 innings to kick off the tournament. Ty Kelly went 0-for-4 with a walk batting second and playing third base. Former Binghamton Met Josh Zeid came up huge, pitching the last three innings of the game, walking two, striking out four, and allowing only one hit. He earned the win as he pitched the 8th, 9th, and 10th innings. Ike Davis pinch hit, going 1-for-1 then walking in the 10th inning. After a Ryan Lavarnway single sent Davis to third, he was pinch-run for by Mike Meyers who scored the go-ahead run.
