The New York Mets are in Port St. Lucie on Sunday where they will host the Miami Marlins in a 1:10 PM matchup at First Data Field. Taking the mound for the Mets will be RHP Jacob deGrom who will be opposed by RHP Jose Urena for the Marlins. Today’s game will be broadcast on PIX11 and WOR Radio.

DeGrom will make his fourth spring start this afternoon. In his last Grapefruit League start against the Astros, he gave up his first and only run of the spring over 4.0 innings while striking out six. His spring ERA 0.90 in 10.0 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts.

RHP Rafael Montero is also expected to pitch this afternoon for the Mets. Montero has appeared in seven games this spring, pitching a total of 11.1 innings and giving up four runs (3.18 ERA)…He has struck out 17 and walked seven.  Also expected to pitch is RHP Erik Goeddel who has made six relief appearances this spring, totaling 5.2 innings and given up six runs, struck out nine, and walked none.

The Mets are 4-1 versus the Marlins in Grapefruit League play with their most recent game being a 6-2 loss on March 15 in Jupiter. After today, the two teams will meet two more times, once in Jupiter and once in Port St. Lucie.

In 20 games the Mets have hit 30 home runs this spring, which is second in the Grapefruit League and tied for third in the majors. The Brewers lead the majors with 35 home runs. The Mets have also collected 50 doubles are rank first amongst Grapefruit League teams.
