The Mets have placed outfielder Michael Cuddyer on the 15-Day Disabled List and selected the contract of outfielder Michael Conforto from Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League.

Conforto, 22, will wear uniform No. 30 and sas hitting .312 (54-173) with 21 runs scored, 12 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 26 RBI in 45 games with the B-Mets. When he appears in a game, he will become the 1,000th player in team history.

Please remember this kid is not a savior, only the deliverer. There’s a difference.

Last night was a typical night for the Mets. They got an amazing outing from a starting pitcher (this time it was the good Colon) but the offense couldn’t muster anything (which may be a little understandable, it was Kershaw). Anyway, the Mets drew a lucky, lucky card today as Grienke is expecting a child, and Ian Thomas has to make a spot start.

For the Mets Jon Niese will take the mound. Niese is 5-8 over 18 games and 112.1 innings with a 3.36 ERA. If the season ended today, this would be his best season ERA of his career. Since the start of June, Niese has made 8 starts and 55.1 innings with a 2.28 ERA. He missed the Dodgers earlier this season but last year was 1-1 in as many starts with a 3.29 ERA over 13.2 innings. The Dodgers have the following numbers against Jon:

  • Rollins 11-53, 3 2B
  • Gonzalez 0-9
  • Ethier 4-10
  • Puig 0-6
  • Turner 3-5,2B
  • Van Slyke 1-5, 2B
  • Kendrick 0-5

Ian Thomas is making the spot start today, he was acquired by the Dodgers earlier this season from the Braves and overall on the season he has pitched in 7 games over 10.1 innings with a 5.23 ERA. In two games this year he logged 1.1 innings against the Mets. The Mets haven’t hit off of Thomas, but they have walked 3 times.

Lets Go Mets!
