Andrew Heaney has made nine starts and pitched 41 2/3 innings this season with a 1.94 ERA, 3.01 FIP, 1.008 WHIP and a 215 ERA+.

He’s been pitching in the rotation on a regular basis since the end of July. Over those six starts he has a 2.73 ERA and 3.51 FIP. Over his last three starts he has allowed nine runs, seven earned, over 13 2/3 innings while striking out an absurd 25 batters (4.61 ERA). Four of the five homers he’s allowed this season have come in the last three starts. The Mets have the following career numbers against Heaney:

Taijuan Walker will kick off the series for the Mets.

Over 22 games and 117 1/3 innings, Walker has a 3.38 ERA, 3.76 FIP, 1.202 WHIP and a 117 ERA+. Since his disastrous start at the beginning of August, he has allowed four runs on 10 hits and seven walks over 13 innings, spread over three starts. This includes two runs over five innings against the Yankees last week, which was his first start back from getting suffering back spasms against the Braves on August 16.

Walker faced the Dodgers in LA back in June and held them to two runs from seven hits and a walk over 5 2/3 innings. The Dodgers have the following career numbers against Walker:

Game Notes

Buck Showalter said Carlos Carrasco threw a 55-pitch sim game, and he should be able to return to the rotation by the end of the weekend series against the Nationals.

The Dodgers called up Heath Hembree and Jake Reed to the major-league club, and sent Michael Grove and Phil Bickford back to the minors.

Clayton Kershaw will make his return from the injured list on Thursday to face the Mets.
