The New York Mets will try to even up the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday at Citi Field. Jacob deGrom (10-6, 2.18 ERA) will get the call for the Mets and he will be opposed by Dodgers ace Zack Greinke (9-2, 1.30 ERA) in a 1:10 PM matchup.

Since June 21, 2014, deGrom has posted a 2.10 ERA (51 earned runs/219.0 innings) which is the third-lowest mark in the majors over that span behind Clayton Kershaw (1.97) and Zack Greinke (2.00).

The Mets are 36-5 this year when they score four or more runs and 14-43 when they score three runs or less.

Juan Lagares and Wilmer Flores are out of the lineup again on Sunday after being on the bench yesterday.

Collins says, “you hit and you continue to play , yesterday the lineup hit and so it’s the same lineup today.”

However I’m sure it’s because there’s a right-hander on the mound and he’s just using the opportunity to sound off and motivate the team.

Mets Starting Lineup

  1. Curtis Granderson – RF
  2. Ruben Tejada – SS
  3. Daniel Murphy – 3B
  4. Kelly Johnson – 2B
  5. Lucas Duda – 1B
  6. Michael Conforto – LF
  7. Kirk Nieuwenhuis – CF
  8. Kevin Plawecki – C
  9. Jacob deGrom – RHP

Well the Mets sometimes troll their own fans, and that’s what happened last night. The Mets had a great start from Harvey but the offense went off the the handle scoring 15 runs including two homers from Duda, a homer from Murphy and a homer from the newest Met, Kelly Johnson. They are going to need that offense today as they go up against Zack Greinke and his impressive scoreless streak.

The Mets will be sending out ace Jacob deGrom who is 10-6 over 18 games and 119.2 innings with a 2.18 ERA. In his first start from the All-Star break he allowed 2 ER over 6.0 innings while striking out 8.

In his last 11 starts he has tossed 78.0 innings and struck out 83 batters with a 1.50 ERA. Jacob missed the Dodgers earlier this year but faced them twice last year over 12.0 innings with a 6.00 ERA. The Dodgers have the following numbers against Jacob:

  • Gonzalez 3-6, 2 HR
  • Rollins 1-6
  • Crawford 0-3
  • Ethier 1-3, 3B
  • Puig 1-3, HR

The Mets draw one of the best pitchers in the game tonight, Zack Greinke. He is 9-2 over 19 starts over131.1 innings with a league leading, insane, 1.30 ERA.

The last runs he allowed were two runs against the Padres on June 13 over 8.0 innings. He picked up a win against the Mets at the start of July pitching 7.0 scoreless innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Zack:

  • Granderson 9-48, 2 2B, 2 3B, HR
  • Uribe 5-20, 2B, HR
  • Murphy 3-11
  • Duda 3-10, HR
  • Flores 3-8
  • Lagares 1-8, HR

Lets Go Mets!
