Citi Field • Flushing, N.Y.
LHP Robbie Ray (5-11, 4.83) vs. RHP Bartolo Colon (10-6, 3.46)
SNY • WOR 710 AM • ESPN 1050 AM

The Mets bullpen cost the team the game last night as Robles allowed 3 runs in the 7th as the D’backs beat the Mets 5-3. Earlier in the game, the Mets went up 3-2 thanks to a two run homer from Neil Walker. While it is easy to blame the bullpen here, and 3 runs in one inning is the pen failing their jobs, the route of the problem is still the offense which has created this feeling of needed to be perfect on the mound. Tonight the Mets will try to put it back together as Bartolo Colon takes on Robbie Ray.

Bartolo Colon is 10-6 over 23 games, 22 starts over 127.1 innings with a  3.46 ERA. After a rocky start against the Rockies (sorry, I couldn’t resist), Colon bounced back last time out against the Yankees allowing only 1 ER over 6 innings. For Colon, he has found himself in a 7 start stretch where he’s great, then bad, great, then bad. Let’s hope he breaks that tonight. Last year he held the Diamondbacks to 2 ER over 7.0 innings. Arizona has the following numbers against Colon:

  • Segura 1-7
  • Bourn 0-4
  • Castillo 1-2, HR
  • Goldschmidt 0-3
  • Loewen 1-2
  • Owings 1-3
  • Tomas 1-3

Robbie Ray is 5-11 over 22 starts and 121.o innings with a 4.83 ERA. In his last three starts he has tossed 16.2 innings allowing 17 runs, 13 earned for an ERA of 7.02. He had a good start against the Mets last year though allowing 6 hits and no runs over 5.0 innings. The Mets have the following on Ray:

  • Bruce 2-6, 2B, HR
  • Flores 0-2

Let’s Go Mets!
