The Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 5-0 in a Wednesday matinee at Citi Field to take the series two games to three.

Bartolo Colon got the starting nod and twirled a gem for the Mets, tossing 7.1 scoreless innings and limiting the Bucs to just five hits and a walk while striking out a season high nine batters. Colon tossed 121 pitches in the game and improved his ERA to 4.73 for the season.

Jeurys Familia pitched the final 1.2 innings to earn the five-out save – his first of the season. Familia also singled in his first MLB at-bat and goes home with a souvenir.

Offensively, David Wright and Lucas Duda both blasted home runs while driving in a pair each and getting on base three times.

That’s basically your whole game right there as the Mets win the last two games of the homestand and head to Philadelphia for a long five game series beginning on Thursday night. Zack Wheeler will open things up for the Mets.
