The New York Mets fell to the Miami Marlins 5-4 as the Mets bullpen struggled to hold the lead late.

Pitching

Jacob deGrom made only two mistakes on the night as he gave up two homers in the second. Other than that, deGrom was electric as he lasted seven innings giving up four hits, the two runs, and matched his career high with thirteen strike outs.

Fernando Salas (0-1) made his eighth appearance of the season. He faltered for the first time as he allowed a two out walk, then a game tying two-run bomb to Christian Yelich. On the very next batter, he allowed a go ahead solo shot to Giancarlo Stanton.

Lefty specialist Jerry Blevins was brought into the game two batters too late, as he struck out Justin Bour to retire the side.

Offense

Neil Walker continued to hit against lefties, reaching base twice. He drove in a run on an RBI double. In a very small sample size, Walker is hitting to an average of .389 against lefties.

Curtis Granderson tripled home a run in the seventh to tie the game.

Michael Conforto entered the game as a pinch hitter with a man on third and nobody out. He missed a homer by a matter of feet, but gave the Mets the lead with a sacrifice fly.

Asdrubal Cabrera smacked his second homer of the season, a solo shot in the eighth. He has a hit in 10 out of 12 games this season.
