On Monday we wrapped up our countdown of the Mets Top 25 prospects with shortstop Andres Gimenez finishing it off at No. 1.

Gimenez was not a clear cut top prospect with many of our writers torn between him and the powerful Pete Alonso, our No. 2 prospect ultimately.

The Mets system certainly improved over the last calendar year despite seeing OF Jarred Kelenic, RHP Justin Dunn, 2B Luis Santana, and OF Ross Adolph traded, all of whom were in our original top 25.

Gimenez and Alonso were consensus top 100 prospects, while Mauricio and Vientos were placed on a few of the top lists. Mauricio, Vientos, Woods-Richardson, Hernandez, Valdez, Newton, Alvarez, and Santos are all still teenagers.

I want to thank the 18 writers that helped make this list that we worked on for months and then had to adjust after numerous trades. Our minor league writers did a fantastic job getting this all together.
