Good afternoon baseball fans! With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, here are some of the latest rumors flying around the league.

Manny Update

Baltimore is said to be progressing towards a Manny Machado deal. According to Jon Heyman of Fancred, there are about five teams still in on the slugger. The Brewers, Phillies, and Dodgers are being considered as teams in the top tier, with Milwaukee recently submitting a “good offer.”

Although Heyman noted the Yankees may be out of talks, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe says New York is “serious” about their pursuit. As opposed to prior reports, the strength of their offer is said to have been a bit exaggerated.

La Familia

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that National League teams comprise a large amount of the Mets market for Jeurys Familia, with the division-rival Phillies and San Francisco Giants specifically being referenced as suitors.

Olney notes that the Phillies, in particular, will wait on Familia as they wait to find out wether they can acquire Zach Britton and/or Manny Machado from the Baltimore Orioles.

Moose on the Move?

ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick notes that the Kansas City Royals are “more likely than not” to trade third baseman Mike Moustakas. Although Kansas City will likely have to wait for Machado to be moved, Crasnick says there is enough of a field for “Moose,” that he will be moved this month.

The Yankees have previously been mentioned as a potential landing spot. Crasnick says the two teams that have recently showed interest include the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox. 21-year old Rafael Devers has been a disappointment for Boston, and Moustakas could help sure up the infield in Atlanta.

New Names Emerge in SP Department

Executives at the Futures Game told Joel Sherman of the NY Post that starters such as the Cardinals’ Carlos Martinez and the Angels’ Tyler Skaggs and Andrew Heaney could be made available.

The Minnesota Twins are making all of their veterans available, including RHP’s Kyle Gibson, Ervin Santana and Lance Lynn.

The Yankees have checked in with the Padres on Tyson Ross, who comes cheaper as he is signed to a minor league deal.

Realmuto to the Nats?

The Washington Nationals have struggled of late, and are in need of a spark. Some sources including Jon Heyman of Fancred think the Nats could “revisit” talks with the Marlins around catcher J.T. Realmuto.

The last time the two clubs had talks Washington balked at the asking price of either OF Victor Robles or INF Carter Kieboom. Although, some sources do now believe that Washington might consider moving the OF prospect in exchange for the All-Star backstop.
