Aaron Boone was officially hired to be the New York Yankees’ manager according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Boone will be the 33rd manager in Yankees history.
The 44-year-old Boone will have a press conference at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. He is signed through 2020 and his contract includes a team option for 2021.
The team also announced that Larry Rothschild will remained on Boone’s coaching staff.
Boone spent 12 seasons in MLB; seven of which as a Cincinnati Red. He was also on the Yankees, Washington Nationals, Florida Marlins, Houston Astros, and Cleveland Indians.
Over the course of his career, Boone hit .263/.326/.425/.751 with 519 runs scored, 126 home runs, 555 RBI, and 107 stolen bases in 3,871 at-bats and 1,152 games played.

The St. Louis Cardinals are reported to have offered the Miami Marlins a deal for Giancarlo Stanton that revolves around pitching prospect Sandy Alcantara according to Craig Mish of SiriusXM. The Cardinals were also willing to take on more of his contract than the San Francisco Giants.
However, Jon Morosi of MLB Network notes that the Marlins are interested in Michael Wacha and Jose Martinez.
Even after the Marlins reportedly agreed to the general framework to potential deals with the Cardinals and Giants, a deal is not imminent according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com.
The Oakland Athletics announced that Yankees’ Triple-A manager Al Pedrique will be their new first base coach. Marcus Jensen will become their new bullpen coach while Mike Aldrete will move over to the assistant hitting coach spot.
The Texas Rangers made a major move by agreeing to a deal with Mike Minor. They also signed multiple players to minor league deals including RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez, OF Anthony Gose, LHP David Hurlbut, and INF Christian Lopez according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Furthermore they also re-signed RHP Tony Barnette.
